Frequently asked questions
What makes TickerDB different from other financial APIs?
TickerDB is a categorical intelligence database, not just an API that returns price data. The search endpoint lets you run arbitrary filters across all categorical fields — trend, momentum, volatility, volume, and more. You query it like a database, not just fetch data for a ticker.
What do I get during the beta?
During beta, every user gets full Pro-tier access for free. No credit card required, no time limit on the beta itself. When we launch paid plans, you'll be notified and can choose which tier fits your usage.
Why is the schema always free?
Agents need to see what's queryable before they can use the database effectively. Gating schema access would make the product harder to adopt, so it's free on every plan, including Free tier. Schema requests cost 0 credits.
Can I cancel at any time?
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from your account settings. You'll continue to have full access to your plan until the end of your current billing period — we don't cut off access early. Your plan simply won't renew after that.
What payment methods do you accept?
We accept all major credit and debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Payments are processed securely through Stripe. Your card details are never stored on our servers.
Can I upgrade or downgrade my plan?
Yes to both. Upgrades take effect immediately with prorated billing. Downgrades take effect at the end of your current billing period so you keep your existing access until then.
What's the difference between Individual and Commercial?
Individual plans are for personal projects, research, and non-commercial use. If you're building a product, service, or application that serves other users or generates revenue, a Commercial plan is required. Commercial plans include team seats (3 for Commercial Plus, 10 for Commercial Pro) so multiple team members can use TickerDB under one billing account with their own API keys.
How do team seats work?
Commercial plans include team seats — 3 for Commercial Plus, 10 for Commercial Pro. The team owner invites members by email via the /v1/team API or the dashboard. Each member gets their own API key and account, but rate limits are shared across the team. When a member is removed, they're automatically downgraded to the free tier.
How much does each API request cost?
Most endpoints cost 1 credit per request. Watchlist GET costs 1 credit per ticker in the request — for example, fetching a watchlist with 10 saved tickers costs 10 credits. Schema requests cost 0 credits. All other endpoints cost 1 credit per request.
Can I redistribute the data?
No. Neither Individual nor Commercial plans include redistribution rights. "Commercial use rights" means you can use TickerDB data internally to power your product or service, but you cannot resell, sublicense, or embed raw API responses into a product delivered to third parties. If your use case requires redistribution rights, contact us to discuss a custom agreement.
